South Sloan's Lake/West Colfax

Bounded roughly by 19th Ave, the Lakewood Gulch, Sheridan Blvd, and Federal Blvd, this area has had a strong revival due to the emergence of West Colfax. Historically filled with older single family homes, this area has recently become a hub of redevelopment. Large, modern townhomes have been built all over, and they are mixed in with architecturally stunning 19th century structures and include an eclectic mix of houses on 14th Avenue and Stuart Street. With great access to the highway and foothills, this neighborhood is filled with funky unique shops and restaurants. The recent redevelopment of the old St. Anthony’s hospital created the new Sloan community adding an exciting new area filled with movie theaters, delicious restaurants, shops, condos, and more.
 

Baker

Along with the adjacent Lincoln Park, many long-time West Denver residents often refer to Baker—near Santa Fe as ‘the real West Side.’ Baker is a vibrant and diverse community filled with character in a great central location. This area is known for its older charming homes, with many built in the 1800s. In 2000, Baker received a Historic District designation as part of the historic preservation effort of the city of Denver. The designation was awarded due to historical figures living in the neighborhood, and several buildings designed by prominent architects between 1873 and 1937. With South Broadway being just steps away, there is great access to tons of eateries, shops, parks and bars. Baker is a super accessible area, and is ranked the 5th most walkable neighborhood in Denver. There are two access points to jump on the light rail as well.
 

Barnum and Barnum West

These neighborhoods are situated just south of the Sixth Avenue Freeway, and North of Alameda. It was named after circus mogul P.T. Barnum in the late 1800’s, who bought acreage to establish a winter home for his circus in the city. It never materialized, and today Barnum offers an affordable option with quick access to downtown, Belmar, and West Colfax. On Federal you will find one of Denver’s classic restaurants, Columbine Steak House, which offers the best steak for your money. These neighborhoods are full of history and rich in culture and diversity.
 

Lincoln Park

Along with the adjacent Baker neighborhood, many long-time West Denver residents often refer to Lincoln Park—near Santa Fe as ‘the real West Side.’ As one of Denver’s oldest neighborhoods, Lincoln Park is extremely close to Auraria and downtown via the Light Rail. Located between West Colfax, 6th Avenue, Osage St, and the Golden Triangle. The neighborhood is home to the Santa Fe Arts District which reflects Denver’s proud Chicano community featuring many long-time restaurants, galleries, and Su Teatro.
 

Villa Park

The neighborhood is bounded on the north by the Lakewood Gulch, on the south by the 6th Avenue Freeway, on the west by Sheridan Boulevard, and on the east by Federal Boulevard. Villa Park has become an affordable option for those wanting to live near West Colfax, downtown Denver, and Sloan’s Lake. Villa Park has become more popular recently with many properties that have been renovated.
